SamSearch can reach you in up to four places — the in-app bell, your email inbox, and a connected Teams or Slack channel — and you control which events go where from Company Profile → Sources & Alerts.

The Notification Bell

The bell icon in the top navigation opens your notification center — a running feed of mentions, assignments, and solicitation updates, with an unread-count badge (capped at “99+”). What you’ll see: Clicking an unread notification marks it read and takes you to the relevant place — a specific task, a document-comment thread, or the journey it relates to. Notifications tied to an amendment take you straight to that journey’s Documents tab, since that’s where the new attachments land. Bell menu actions:
  • Read all — marks every notification read
  • Clear all — removes every notification from the list
  • Hover any notification for individual Mark as read / Delete actions
New notifications arrive live while you’re using the app — no refresh needed — and the list loads more as you scroll.
The exact title and message of each notification can vary slightly by event, but the categories above stay the same.

Choosing Where Each Notification Goes

Every notification and email-alert control lives in one place: Company Profile → Sources & Alerts → Notifications. There is no separate “notification settings” page — if you’re looking for this on the plain Settings page, you won’t find it there.

Quick-Start Presets

One click sets a sensible default across everything: If neither Teams nor Slack is connected, you’ll see a prompt to connect one so you can route notifications there instead of email. Set up an integration →

Fine-Tuning Individual Notifications

Below the presets is a matrix — one row per notification type, one column per channel (In-app, Email, Teams, Slack). Tap any cell to toggle that channel on or off for that notification. A dash means the channel doesn’t apply to that event; a dimmed column means that channel isn’t connected yet. The section is headed Fine-tune each notification, with the instruction: “Tap a cell to turn a channel on or off for that notification. A dash means the channel doesn’t apply; dimmed columns aren’t connected yet.” Every cell is toggleable, including In-app. If you’d rather not see a particular event in the bell, switch its In-app cell off.
A dash is not the same as “off”. It means that channel doesn’t apply to that event at all — for example, Amendment updates is an in-app event and Amendment emails is its email counterpart, so each shows a dash in the other’s column.
Mentions, task comments, pursuit assignments, task assignments, and amendment emails are on by email by default the first time you set up your account. Replies, reactions, and in-app amendment updates never email you, regardless of preference — they’re designed to stay lightweight.

Multi-Profile Recommendation Alerts

If your organization runs more than one AI Profile, a separate section lets you mute recommendation alerts per profile — useful if you only actively work one of several profiles day to day. Saved-search alerts are managed independently, on each saved search itself, and mentions/assignments always come through regardless of this setting.

Always On (Can’t Be Turned Off)

A small set of transactional notifications are exempt from all of the above, because they keep your account itself working: email verification, password reset, team invites, and billing & account notices.

Single-Channel Notifications

A few notifications only go to one place, whatever your other settings:
  • Email only: the daily recommendation digest and saved-search alert digests.
“Outline ready” and “Proposal ready” are sent by email, and also posted to your team channel if your organization has Teams or Slack connected.

Opportunity Sources Feed Recommendations Separately

Also on the Sources & Alerts tab (not the Notifications card): each opportunity source (Federal, SLED, Grants, and so on) has its own AI recommendations toggle and a Hide toggle, independent of the notification routing above. Turning recommendations off for a source stops it from generating recommendation alerts entirely — it’s not a notification-channel setting, it’s a data-source setting. Learn more →

Unsubscribing From Email

Every SamSearch email includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it is a global, all-or-nothing opt-out from SamSearch’s contracts emails — it is not the same as turning off one notification type in the matrix above. If you only want to mute one kind of email (say, task comments) while keeping others, use the fine-tuning matrix instead of the unsubscribe link.

FAQ

Go to Company Profile → Sources & Alerts → Notifications. There are no notification settings on the Settings page.
No. The unsubscribe link is global — it turns off all of SamSearch’s emails to that address, not just the one you clicked from. To keep some emails and drop others, use the per-notification matrix instead.
Yes, if your org has more than one AI Profile — there’s a dedicated per-profile mute section in Notifications settings.
Yes. In the Fine-tune each notification matrix, tap the In-app cell for any notification type to switch it off — it works the same as the Email, Teams and Slack columns. The only exceptions are the Always On transactional notices (email verification, password reset, team invites, billing & account), which can’t be disabled because they keep your account working.
