Canada is a distinct opportunity source in SamSearch, and requires SLED access. It appears in Search by default, but it’s off for AI Recommendations until you turn on its AI recommendations toggle in the Sources & Alerts tab of your Company Profile.

What is the Canada source?

The Canada source pulls procurement opportunities from across the Canadian public sector — federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, municipalities, education institutions, and several other public-sector categories. Canadian opportunities appear in SamSearch search results and can be saved, added to Journey Hub, and analyzed with Sammy, just like any other source.

SamSearch classifies Canadian opportunities into nine levels: Federal, Provincial, Municipal, Education, Health, Transit, Water, Crown, and Other. Named portals SamSearch monitors include:

Enabling Canada in your profile

Canada can be enabled or hidden per AI Profile:
  1. Go to Account → Company Profile
  2. Click the Sources & Alerts tab
  3. Find Canada in the Opportunity Sources list
  4. Toggle AI recommendations on to include Canada in your recommendations feed
  5. Confirm Hide is off so Canada appears in Search
You can also drag the Canada row to reorder it relative to other sources — this controls its tab position on the Search page. Hiding a source removes it across the app entirely and stops it generating recommendations, so only hide Canada if you genuinely don’t want it anywhere.

Searching Canada opportunities

On the Search page, select the Canada source tab to search exclusively across Canadian opportunities, or include Canada in a Multi-Source search alongside Federal, SLED, and other sources. Both Smart Search (natural language) and Keyword Search (boolean operators) are supported, and the search engine handles English and French keywords.

Canada Contract Pages

Canada opportunity pages share the same layout family as SLED, minus SLED’s heavier line-items/vendor/events machinery:
  • Header — Buyer (contracting authority or agency), Level, Province/Territory, Jurisdiction
  • Timeline — Publish Date, Post Date, Last Updated, Due Date, Close Date
  • A green Recently Updated badge when the portal’s own last-updated timestamp falls within the past 14 days
  • Key Details sidebar — Notice Type, Language, GSIN code (Canada’s Goods and Services Identification Number, its equivalent of a PSC), Indigenous Set-Aside (Yes/No), Trade Agreements the opportunity falls under
  • Contact Information — up to two contacts (Primary/Secondary)
  • Attachments — RFP documents, appendices, and addenda, with Summarize/View/Download per file
  • Any field SamSearch inferred rather than read directly from the portal carries a small AI icon and a “This [field] is generated by SamSearch’s AI” tooltip
Last Updated is the date the source portal reports — not when SamSearch last checked it. If a portal hasn’t touched its own “last updated” field, SamSearch shows that same date.
Sammy can analyze any Canada opportunity the same way it analyzes federal or SLED contracts — requirements, compliance, fit assessment, and proposal assistance.

Saving and pursuing Canada opportunities

  • Save — add any Canada opportunity to your Saved Opportunities list
  • Start Journey — create a Journey Hub pursuit for the opportunity
  • From that Journey, you can then generate a proposal using your profile and uploaded documents — see Proposal Generation

Frequently Asked Questions

No — any account with SLED access (Pro and Enterprise plans) can use the Canada source. Whether you are eligible to bid on a specific Canadian procurement depends on the issuing agency’s rules, not SamSearch.
Yes — federal Canadian procurements are posted in both English and French. SamSearch displays and searches both languages.
SamSearch doesn’t publish a fixed refresh interval for Canada. The Last Updated date shown on each opportunity is the source portal’s own timestamp, not a promise about when SamSearch last checked it — see the note above.
Yes — enable email notifications in Sources & Alerts, then create a Saved Search with the Canada source and your desired keywords. New matching opportunities will be emailed on your configured frequency (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly).
