# SBIR/STTR Contract Pages

**SBIR** (Small Business Innovation Research) and **STTR** (Small Business Technology Transfer) are federally mandated R\&D programs for small businesses.

## Status lifecycle

| Status          | Meaning                                               |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pre-release** | Topic announced; applications not yet accepted        |
| **Open**        | Accepting applications between Open Date and Due Date |
| **Closed**      | Submission window ended                               |

## Phase structure

| Phase         | Typical scope                                    |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| **Phase I**   | Feasibility study (\~6 months, \~$150K–$300K)    |
| **Phase II**  | Prototype development (\~2 years, \~$750K–$1.5M) |
| **Phase III** | Commercialization — non-SBIR funding             |
